No ratings yet
This is the crispy air fryer chicken recipe you didn't know you needed. Ready in 20 minutes, I crusted with crushed cornflakes to make it super crispy, golden brown, and coated it in a sweet and tangy honey lemon garlic glaze.

Ingredients

Crispy Air Fryer Chicken
  • 4 chicken breasts lightly pounded to even thickness
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 eggs beaten
  • 2 cups cornflakes crushed
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • Oil spray
Honey Lemon Garlic Glaze
  • 2 tablespoons sesame oil
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • ½ cup honey
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • ½ tablespoon crushed red pepper flakes
  • 2 tablespoon cornstarch slurry mixture of cornstarch and water

Equipment

Method

  1. Pound the chicken. Place chicken breasts between two pieces of plastic wrap and lightly pound to an even thickness so they cook evenly.
    4 chicken breasts
  2. Season the chicken breasts with garlic powder, salt and black pepper.
1 tablespoon garlic powder, 1 tablespoon salt, 1 teaspoon black pepper
  3. Set up your breading station. Set out three shallow dishes: flour in the first, beaten eggs in the second, and crushed cornflakes.
    1 cup all-purpose flour, 2 eggs, 2 cups cornflakes
  4. Bread the chicken. Coat each piece in flour, dip it in egg, then press firmly into the cornflake mixture. Really press those cornflakes in, so they stick and get super crispy.
  5. Air fry. Place the breaded chicken in the air fryer basket and spray lightly with oil. Air fry at 425°F for 10 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden and the internal temperature reaches 165°F.
    Oil spray
  6. Make the honey lemon garlic glaze. While the chicken cooks, combine sesame oil, garlic, lemon juice, honey, salt, black pepper, soy sauce, and red pepper flakes in a small saucepan over medium heat. Simmer for 2 minutes, stirring occasionally.
2 tablespoons sesame oil, 3 cloves garlic, Juice of 1 lemon, ½ cup honey, ½ teaspoon salt, ½ teaspoon black pepper, 2 tablespoons soy sauce, ½ tablespoon crushed red pepper flakes
  7. Add the cornstarch slurry to thicken.
    2 tablespoon cornstarch slurry
  8. Coat the chicken. Dunk or brush each piece generously with the lemon garlic sauce.
  9. Serve and enjoy!

Notes

*** Your cooking time for the chicken depends on the quality of your air fryer. Mine is fairly new, therefore can cook my chicken in 10 minutes. Add more time to your cooking time if needed. The internal temp should be 165 degrees.
