These are the best sauces for steak, from my creamy Japanese steak sauce to cowboy butter, miso garlic butter and a bright 5 minute nuoc cham. Most of them take 10 minutes or less, and every one makes a plain steak taste like you ordered it out.
Steak night is means date night with my family. We do it every Friday. Everyone helps out and we talk about our wins and losses that week. It's very special to us. Here's what we've created so far as a family.
Need the steak too? Start with my Air Fryer Ribeye, Bistek or Vietnamese Shaking Beef. Let it rest for 5 minutes, slice it, then sauce it.

Japanese Steak Sauce
My #1. The creamy sesame garlic sauce from the teppanyaki counter, blended with toasted sesame seeds, soy sauce and mustard powder. Ready in 10 minutes.
Cowboy Butter
A full cup of salted butter melted with shallot, garlic, dijon, chili flakes and smoked paprika. Spoon it over steak bites or a whole ribeye.
Miso Garlic Butter
Butter, white miso and a spoonful of gochujang. It melts right into a hot seared steak. Salty, savory and a little spicy.
Nuoc Cham
Fish sauce, lime, garlic and bird's eye chili. Sharp and salty, and it cuts right through a fatty ribeye. 5 minutes, no cooking.
Garlic Chili Oil
Gochugaru, green onion, black vinegar and oyster sauce. Smoky, not too spicy. Drizzle it over sliced steak and rice.
Bang Bang Sauce
Mayo, sweet chili sauce, sriracha and lime. Two minutes, one bowl, made for dunking steak bites.
Sauces for steak FAQs

Toasted sesame seeds, onion, garlic, soy sauce, water, rice vinegar, mustard powder and neutral oil, blended until creamy.
Salted butter, shallot, green onion, garlic, dijon mustard, red chili flakes, smoked paprika and black pepper.
